Textos Completos Autorizados

Reference gene selection for real-time qPCR in European flounder (Platichthys flesus) using organ-specific RNA-seq data.

Reference gene selection for real-time qPCR in European flounder (Platichthys flesus) using organ-specific RNA-seq data.

Fuente:Molecular Biology Reports

Extracto: The proposed approach based on differential expression analysis and a new bioinformatic tool is an appropriate selection method of candidates for reference genes in qPCR. The proposed approach, combining differential expression analysis with a new bioinformatics tool, provides an effective method for selecting reference gene candidates for qPCR. As a result, we can propose four genes (polr2f, yif1a, sf3b6, uba52), each with a set of validated primers, as suitable for consideration as reference genes in qPCR analysis in European flounder, an emerging model species.

Tipo de trabajo:Revisión

Extracto: Student-run clinics like REACH play a key role in delivering preventative care to underserved populations, bridging critical gaps in our healthcare system, and benefiting patients and students alike. However, the ethical principles of beneficence and non-maleficence should be considered when student-run clinics decide what services to offer. Preventative care has been successfully implemented at other student-run clinics but requires careful arrangement of adequate follow-up care, especially when it comes to cancer screening. Vaccinations are a low-cost, high-impact initiative that can be feasibly implemented at most student-run clinics.

Ethnobotanical review of traditional use of wild food plants in Japan.

Tipo de trabajo:Revisión

Extracto: A comparison with those of previous studies on wild species used in other Asian regions revealed a similar preference for vegetables. However, notably, in Japan, ferns are also consumed in considerable quantities. Conversely, further elucidation is clearly needed with respect to certain matters, including the perception of plant sex and the relationships between diverse ash components and detoxification techniques. It is evident that further ethnobotanical research is needed, both in the form of an examination of ethnographic records and in the field, to gain a deeper understanding of the use of wild food plants in Japan.

Extracto: Our efforts revealed the complications of creating a comprehensive dataset of tick abundance and pathogen prevalence across time and space due to variations in tick collection and pathogen testing methods. Although tick abundance has not changed along the more southern latitudes in our study over this time period, and only gradually changed in the more northern latitudes of our study, human risk for exposure to tick-borne pathogens has increased due to increased pathogen prevalence in I. scapularis.
