Textos Completos Autorizados

Association between factor I fibrinogen (rs6050) and factor XI plasma thromboplastin (rs4253417) genetic polymorphisms and recurrent spontaneous miscarriage in Saudi women.

Association between factor I fibrinogen (rs6050) and factor XI plasma thromboplastin (rs4253417) genetic polymorphisms and recurrent spontaneous miscarriage in Saudi women.

Fuente:Saudi Medical Journal

Extracto: We demonstrated a significant correlation between genetic polymorphisms in factor I fibrinogen in certain genes studied and RSM. This association could be attributed to changes in fibrinogen levels, which impact the coagulation process and lead to an increase in thrombotic events, which are recognized as risk factors for miscarriage. Notably, variations in the other genes examined did not exhibit any association with the risk of RSM.

Claves:Recurrent spontaneous miscarriage, Single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), TaqMan assay, clotting factors, factor I fibrinogen, factor XI plasma thromboplastin, genomic DNA

Depression, anxiety, and stress among HIV-positive pregnant women during the COVID-19 pandemic: a hospital-based cross-sectional study in India.

Depression, anxiety, and stress among HIV-positive pregnant women during the COVID-19 pandemic: a hospital-based cross-sectional study in India.

Fuente:Bmc Pregnancy and Childbirth

Extracto: The study concludes that about one-third of the HIV-positive pregnant women reported anxiety, and more than half of the women were feeling stressed and depressed during COVID-19. Factors such as residence and primigravidae were linked with antenatal depression. Whereas variables like ANC visits, knowing HIV status during pregnancy, non-disclosure of HIV status, no partner's support, and sexual partner HIV negative status were associated with depression and stress. The anxiety symptoms are very high among women who are HIV positive during pregnancy, and not having a partner's support. Demographic, clinical, and support-related determinants and COVID-19 stressors of DAS provide insights for interventions to reduce the burden of mental health problems among HIV-positive pregnant women.

The effect of hrHPV prevalence on cervical cancer screening strategies: a cost-effectiveness study of Bangladesh.

Fuente:Bmc Public Health

Extracto: Our study demonstrates that the hrHPV test + VIA strategy is cost-effective both compared to no screening and VIA + colposcopy screening strategy under the optimal (70%) and realistic (8.7%) uptake scenarios, with greater cost-effectiveness at higher hrHPV prevalence levels. While VIA-based strategy is cheaper, self-sampling hrHPV test-based strategy offers greater health benefits. Implementing hrHPV testing in national screening programs at lower hrHPV test prices is crucial for promoting health equity and accelerating cervical cancer elimination worldwide. In resource-constrained settings, screening with hrHPV testing should initially target high-prevalence populations.

Socioeconomic, demographic and obstetric determinants of maternal near miss in Africa

Socioeconomic, demographic and obstetric determinants of maternal near miss in Africa

Fuente:Plos One

Tipo de trabajo:Revisión sistemática

Extracto: Several factors, including education, prenatal care follow-up, pre-existing medical conditions, method of admission, and mode of delivery, have been identified as significant indicators of the likelihood of severe maternal morbidity. To reduce these cases, it is crucial to implement targeted socio-economic development programs, including improving access to education, strengthening prenatal health services, providing support to pregnant women with pre-existing medical conditions, and ensuring appropriate admission and delivery methods.

Equitable access to quality trauma systems in Ghana: a qualitative study.

Fuente:Bmj Open

Extracto: This study shows that multiple factors cause an injured patient to delay in seeking care, reaching care, receiving care and remaining in care. Therefore, there is a pressing need for comprehensive, community-driven strategies to strengthen health literacy at the community level. There is also a need for facility-based strategies that would improve the availability of medical and human resources to augment access to quality trauma care. Additionally, if policymakers focus on removing financial barriers to trauma care and strengthening referral systems, especially in the remote and rural areas, it would greatly improve access to quality trauma care in Ghana.
