  ENTEROCOCCUS FAECALIS EFAA IN THERAPY-RESISTANT ENDONTIC INFECTIONS
Enterococcus faecalis implicated in persistent root canal infections has also been associated with infective endocarditis arising from certain invasive dental procedures. The aim of this study was to detect the presence of putative E. faecalis virulence factor, endocarditis antigen efaA in root canals of therapy-resistant endodontic infections using molecular technology.

THE BURDEN OF SIGHT THREATENING DIABETIC RETINOPATHY IN JAMAICA
Jamaica has a high percentage of patients with sight threatening diabetic retinopathy. This has a significant impact on the visual morbidity of our patients. Insulin dependent diabetic patients have a greater odds ratio of developing both proliferative diabetic retinopathy and macula oedema.

The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) guideline for chronic fatigue syndrome/ myalgic encephalomyelitis emphasizes the importance of confident diagnosis and early treatment in primary care of people with this patology. Patients of South Asian, black and minority ethnic origin present with vague physical symptoms, somatisation was common, and they may also be influenced by cultural beliefs such as black magic spells.

Functional electrical stimulation combined with physiotherapy induced better outcomes in swing phase of the gait cycle, activation of the affected ankle dorisflexor muscles, and cortical function, when compared with conventional physiotherapy alone. FES not only produce orthotic effect but also has therapeutic effect.
