NEWLY DEFINED COMMINUTED RADIAL HEAD FRACTURE
The Mason Classification is used to describe radial head fractures, which are the most common type of elbow fracture. Six patients presented to the senior surgeon’s clinic with a fracture that was in three main pieces with the main fragment dislocated. In these patients the fracture was fixed with the use of three headless compression screws. This resulted in good to excellent functional outcomes in all patients, with radiological and clinical union. We have shown that not all Mason type III fractures require plating, arthroplasty or excision.
