      QUALITY IN MEDICAL LABORATORIES
The survey shows responses from good to excellent and the poor response recorded may be attributed to the lack of resources. All The laboratories were provided necessary technical and educational support to keep the momentum of "Continual Quality Improvement". Participation in IQC and EQAS were encouraged. Quality can be improved considerably with sustained efforts despite some limitations..

HAND TRANSPLANTATION: IS IT WORTH IT? A HAND AMPUTEE PERSPECTIVE
From the perspective of hand amputee patients, no clear preference towards hand transplantation, with its inherent risks, was shown. With increase spread of centers offering hand VCAs worldwide, the benefits must be carefully weighed against the risks of lifelong immunosuppressive therapy..

QUANTITATIVE CYTOMORPHOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF BUCCAL SQUAMES IN DIABETICS
Diabetes mellitus is a systemic disease affecting the entire body including changes in oral mucosa. Quantitative cytomorphometric analysis of buccal squames of patients can be used as an verification tool for clinical diabetes. Thus, changes in nuclear area and the resultant nuclear cytoplasmic ratio of buccal epithelial cells are pathognomonic..

AN AUTOMATED CALIBRATED ORTHODONTIC BRACKET PLACEMENT DEVICE
The principle of measurement of distance on a plane using image processing based feedback was demonstrated. Errors were seen despite the system having highest possible accuracy of 0.03 mm. These can be improved by building a setup with more precise components and by improving the algorithm analysis to get better results..

ALTERED SUBCELLULAR DISTRIBUTION OF DISC1, CAMP LEVELS, AND NEURONAL MIGRATION IN SCHIZOPHRENIA AND BIPOLAR DISORDER
DISC1 (disrupted-in-schizophrenia-1) is considered a genetic risk factor for neuropsychiatric disorders. In this study, analysis in human olfactory neuronal precursors of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder patients showed decreased DISC1 levels in the cytoplasm, cAMP accumulation and diminished cell migration. The results suggest that these disorders share common molecular pathways that could hinder the neurodevelopmental process..

ANTILEUKEMIA ACTIVITIES OF RETINOID AND ARSENIC
All-trans retinoic acid and arsenic trioxide are recently recognized as effective agents to treat acute promyelocytic leukemia. These two agents reduce leukemia cells followed by affecting the function of the PML-RAR alpha, an unusual molecule as a result of the t(15;17) chromosomal translocation..

      HYDROXYAPATITE-COATED POROUS IRON BONE SCAFFOLDS
Hydroxyapatite-coated porous iron was developed for hard tissue scaffolds and its degradation and cell-material interaction were studied. The coating was able to slow down the degradation of porous iron while enhanced viability of human skin fibroblast and human mesenchymal cells. This study showed evidence of the potentiality of bioactive porous iron scaffold in orthopaedic surgery..
