Abstract
In the last few years our research group devoted itself to describe neonatal stressors (noise, vibrations during transport, electromagnetic fields, prenatal stressors) and to overcome them. We developed an effective analgesic technique, that we called Sensorial Saturation, and we described babies crying during painful stimuli. The main result was the creation and validation of a scale for scoring pain in neonatal age. This scale is based only on the acoustical recognition of some parameters of neonatal crying. Thus it is easy to use and also effective.

Key words
pain, neonate, premature baby, pain scale, crying
