Textos Completos Autorizados

Medicina Reproductiva

Premature ovarian insufficiency: When ovaries retire early.

Fuente:Annals of The Academy of Medicine, Singapore

Tipo de trabajo:Revisión

Extracto: Timely diagnosis and management of POI is vital to prevent long-term adverse consequences, except infertility. HT is the mainstay of treatment and there are no alternatives as effective. Contraindications are very few; estrogen-sensitive cancer is the main contraindication, and caution in prescribing may be needed with established coexisting cardiovascular disease. Estrogen dosage is higher than when treating normal menopause, and as a result, the patient might require more progestogen for endometrial protection. Minimising cardiovascular risk factors by following a healthy lifestyle is important. POI is a significant public health issue and it is imperative that women have affordable access to appropriate HT. Large-scale research on POI in Asian women is needed.

Level of overweight and obesity surpassed underweight among women in 40 low and middle-income countries: Findings from a multilevel multinomial analysis of population survey data.

Fuente:Plos One

Extracto: Over a quarter of women of reproductive age in LMICs were overweight or obese, with underweight affecting 15.6%. It was also found that the levels of overweight and obesity were higher than the rate for underweight, with wide variations across the countries. Thus, efforts to improve the modifiable risks can have a positive impact on reducing undernutrition and over-nutrition. Given the considerable variations between countries and survey periods, nutrition programs should also be tailored to the specific needs and cultural contexts of different regions within the study settings. Furthermore, the findings suggest the need for regular monitoring and evaluation of the existing nutritional interventions to assess their effectiveness.

Optimising adolescents and young adults' utilisation of sexual and reproductive health and HIV services in Chad: a sensemaking approach.

Fuente:Bmj Global Health

Extracto: This study advances the understanding of sensemaking in healthcare, illustrating how AYA in Chad navigate and interpret the healthcare system. It highlights the need for AYA-friendly services that foster clear communication, trust and responsive care. Strengthening health systems through adolescent-responsive policies, workforce training and decentralised service delivery can enhance AYA engagement, service utilisation and retention in care. Aligning services with AYA perspectives through community-driven approaches and system reforms can improve healthcare accessibility and outcomes in similar contexts.
