Msida, Malta: In this ecological study, there was a negative correlation between country incidence of type 1 diabetes and infectious disease mortality and a positive correlation between country incidence of type 1 diabetes and susceptibility of Streptococcus pneumoniae to antibiotics was found to be positive supporting an inverse relation between type 1 diabetes incidence and bacterial exposure.
