Este trabajo colaborativo entre 13 centros de referencia de Sudamérica y Europa analiza la frecuencia de cepas Beijing en 7 países de Sudamérica

LAS CEPAS BEIJING RARAMENTE CAUSAN TUBERCULOSIS EN SUDAMERICA

El análisis de los genotipos de cepas aisladas de pacientes con tuberculosis diagnosticada entre 1997 y 2003 en siete países de Sudamérica mostró la presencia de cepas Beijing en sólo 19/1 202 (1.6%) pacientes, todos nativos, excepto dos inmigrantes coreanos. La tuberculosis producida por las cepas Beijing no se asoció a farmacorresistencia.
