Este trabalho permitiu mostrar que os carcinomas basocelulares de indivíduos irradiados são de um tipo mais agressivo e apresentam mais frequentemente alterações do DNA mitocondrial.
SUBTIPOS HISTOLÓGICOS DOS BASALIOMAS INDUZIDOS (DE LOS BASALIOMAS INDUCIDOS) POR RADIAÇÃO
Foram observadas mais de 1300 pessoas submetidas na infância (entre 1950 e 1960) à irradiação do couro cabeludo para o tratamento de uma infeção fúngica por Tinea capitis, tendo 122 desenvolvido carcinomas basocelulares. Estes carcinomas basocelulares eram mais frequentemente do tipo infiltrativo e apresentavam mais alterações do DNA mitocondrial quando comparados com os de um grupo controlo.
