La pielonefritis enfisematosa es una rara infección necrotizante aguda, potencialmente mortal por una complicación séptica, habitualmente por Escherichia coli, más frecuente en las mujeres, y favorecida por la diabetes descompensada y la obstrucción repetitiva del tracto urinario.
