El trabajo contribuye al conocimiento de la fisiología de Bacillus cereus, su explicación genómica y sus relaciones filogenéticas

BACILLUS CEREUS Y EL SUCCINATO. TRANSPORTE, UTILIZACION Y GENOMICA

La enzima succinato:quinona reductasa (SQR) de Bacillus cereus presenta propiedades cinético-moleculares semejantes a la de B. subtilis. Sin embargo, B. cereus es incapaz de utilizar el succinato exógeno. Esto es debido a que carece de un sistema de transporte para ácidos C4-dicarboxílicos. Esta característica y otras propiedades fisiológicas apoyan la propuesta de que el ancestro común del grupo “cereus” de bacterias es un patógeno oportunista.
