El estudio histopatológico que muestra glándulas endometriales, células del estroma y restos celulares sobre una base hemorrágica es confirmatorio. La obtención de muestras para estudio citológico mediante aspiración con aguja fina es un procedimiento confiable, relativamente no traumático, para el diagnóstico prequirúrgico de la entidad.
