O método convencional de medição do comprimento do recém-nascido recomenda a completa extensão dos membros inferiores. Isto contraria a postura intrauterina de flexão, provocando desconforto que poderá equivaler à picada do calcanhar para colheita de sangue. No presente estudo comprova-se que a medição do comprimento com apenas um membro inferior estendido reduz significativamente o desconforto, sem diminuir a exactidão.
