El trabajo alerta sobre la adquisición cromosómica de una metiltransferasa de resistencia a aminoglucósidos en una bacteria patógena
COSTO BIOLÓGICO E INTERFERENCIA ENTRE METILASAS ADQUIRIDAS Y ENDÓGENAS
En este trabajo observamos que la adquisición cromosómica de una metiltransferasa del ARNr 16S de resistencia a aminoglucósidos no supone un costo biológico adicional para la bacteria, metilando todos los ribosomas incluso en ausencia de antibióticos. Además, esta metilación desplaza metilaciones endógenas adyacentes altamente conservadas a lo largo de la evolución.
