Foi utilizado o pareamento por idade gestacional e sexo para a comparação dos níveis séricos de IGF-1 e IGFBP-3 entre recém-nascidos com e sem restrição de crescimento intra-uterino.

IGFBP-3 COMO MARCADOR POTENCIAL DE RESTRIÇÃO DE CRESCIMENTO INTRA-UTERINO

Não houve diferença significativa nos níveis de IGF-1 entre recém-nascidos pequenos (PIG) e adequados (AIG) para idade gestacional no primeiro dia de vida, porém o IGFBP-3 encontrava-se significativamente reduzido nos recém-nascidos PIG. Concluiu-se que o IGFBP-3 é um marcador potencial de restrição de crescimento intra-uterino.
