Chemical characterization revealed alarmingly high levels of lead
TOXICOLOGICAL RISK ASSESSMENT OF SELECTED SMOKELESS TOBACCO PRODUCTS

An attempt has been made to estimate the moisture content, pH (and thus the free nicotine) and to quantify trace metals in a few smokeless tobacco products popular among the locals. These assessments have contributed towards establishing a toxicological fingerprint on the diverse arrays of such products freely available in the market currently.
